“Community Connection” (7 a.m. Sunday on 21 WFMJ-TV; and 7 p.m. Tuesday and noon next Saturday on Time Warner Cable community access channel): The Mahoning Valley Task Force on Crime and Violence Prevention will hold the 17th annual Peace Awards Banquet in Youngstown. Tina Milner, chairwoman, will join host Madonna Chism Pinkard to discuss the banquet, the various community honorees and keynote speaker, Judge Robert Douglas (retired) of the Youngstown Municipal Court.

Next, Danette Palmer of Homes for Kids will discuss a new fundraiser for the organization, the Steel Valley Wing Challenge, which by popular vote will crown the Valley’s best chicken wings.

Jennifer Rapczak and Mialie Szymanski will discuss the Newton Falls Ladies Fire Auxiliary Club’s 24th annual Chili Cook-off. Local cooks and chefs will compete for the title of Best Chili in Trumbull County.

Finally, retired educator Penny Wells, local coordinator of the Sojourn to the Past Program, will discuss the third annual Non-Violence Rally and Parade in downtown Youngstown on Oct. 6. The event will involve local businesses, organizations and groups making a statement against crime and violence.

Organist to enliven ‘Hunchback’ film

New Castle, Pa

Scottish Rite Cathedral, 110 E. Lincoln Ave., will screen the 1923 film “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25. Internationally-known organist Walt Strony will play the film score on the Hall’s pipe organ. Tickets are $12 with student and group pricing available.
