White House Fruit Farm kicks off fall season with festival

White House Fruit Farm celebrated the beginning of the fall season by hosting its 31st Annual Craft Show and Harvest Festival Sept. 21-22.
A craft show was hosted around the lake featuring 55 vendors from across the region. Visitors also participated in several outdoor events, including horse-drawn wagon rides through the orchards, food, caramel apples and plenty of activities for the children, including a petting zoo, a children’s play area and a corn maze.
Inside the 10,000 square-foot market was the usual White House Fruit Farm fare, including pies, their famous doughnuts, homemade fudge and seasonal produce. Food carts offering whole chickens, hot dogs, corn dogs, French fries and lemonade also drew crowds of hungry visitors.
The event also featured the Whitehouse Fruit Farm Pumpkin Barn, co-partnered with Lutz Greenhouse.
Several large round hay bales were painted to look like Thomas the Train, a “Despicable Me” minion, jack-o-lanterns and a cottage and were placed around the grounds and to provide photo opportunities for visitors.
Special fall outdoor events will continue at White House Fruit Farm every weekend through Nov. 2.
The Awesome Post-Halloween Pumpkin Launch will be from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 2.
Visitors may recycle a slightly used pumpkin by loading it on to the trebuchet for a chance to win prizes for distance and accuracy.
Proceeds will benefit Big Reach Center of Hope in Greenford.
