South Range Raider Regatta Monday

NORTH LIMA

The 16th annual Raider Regatta begins at 12:15 p.m. Monday at South Range Business Complex, 11863 South Ave. The event features boats constructed by the sophomore class of South Range High School.

The students will sail their boats across the lake at Memorial Park, behind the business complex. In the event of rain, the regatta will be moved to Thursday.

Each group, consisting of two to six students, was instructed to create a sailboat using only cardboard and duct tape. The project is aimed at making students use their math, science, English and problem-solving skills, school officials said.

Several awards will be given for boats and participants in the regatta. The event is open to the public.
