Easy Street performs at Morley Pavilion

Gray skies and a wet ground didn’t stop people from attending the last concert of the season at the Judge Morley Pavilion in Mill Creek MetroParks Aug. 28.
In what has become a tradition for the Live at the Morley concert series, Easy Street productions, a Youngstown-based stock theatre company, closed out the season with a performance of show tunes.
“We’re going to take you through some of the oldies but goodies,” Todd Hancock, co-founder of Easy Street told the crowd.
James McClellan and Maureen Collins kicked off the show with a duet. Collins is also a co-founder of Easy Street.
Hancock called McClellan “the voice of Youngstown.”
The pair performed “Me and My Shadow,” as a “Rat Pack” tribute. Many in the audience, when asked by Hancock, said they were fans of the 1960’s group of actors/singers referred to as the “Rat Pack.”
“I come every year for this one, because it’s the best one they have the whole year,” said Dorothy LoSasso. “It’s the best performance.”
She also attended a few of the other concerts during the season.
“It’s sad that this is the last one because everyone likes going to them,” LoSasso said.
JoAnn Barron also attends the Easy Street concert at the Morley each year.
“I never miss it,” she said. “They’re just wonderful. I think they’re a great local group.”
She usually attends other concerts at the Morley Pavilion throughout the summer. Unfortunately, she said, several were canceled due to rain this year.
“But I wouldn’t miss” Easy Street, Barron said. “If it rains, we brought ponchos.”
