Police: Suspect claimed she was related to attack victims

LIBERTY, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a woman being sought in an attack that killed an elderly man and seriously injured his wife gained entrance to the home by telling the victims she was a distant relation.

The (Williamsport) Sun-Gazette says state police released details about the Sept. 13 slaying of 82-year-old Oliver Litzelman in a search warrant court document.

Authorities said the victim’s 81-year-old wife said a woman came to the door saying she was a Litzelman descendant and doing genealogy work. But after she was invited in, she started asking about a safe deposit box and became agitated after being told that the couple’s money was in the bank. Police said a physical confrontation began, and the woman pulled a handgun from her purse and shot the victim.
