Lowellville officer to be sworn in today

LOWELLVILLE

Donald Coppola will be sworn in as the village’s fourth full-time police officer at 6:30 p.m. today.

The 34-year-old Coppola will replace Jason Goist, who submitted his letter of resignation on Friday.

Coppola has worked part time for the Lowellville Police Department for about two months, but spent five years as a full-time officer within the department before leaving in 2011.

Chief Ryan Bonacci said he knows Coppola is a capable addition to the force, and added that he’s sure Coppola will do his job well.

“He’s someone you can trust,” Bonacci said. “We now have a pretty solid roster of officers, and we’re moving in the right direction.”
