Girard will pick up only bagged leaves this year

Girard will again require the use of paper lawn bags for its annual leaf collection. Leaves raked to the street will not be picked up by the city.

A bulk quantity of bags will be available to city residents while the supply lasts. The bags can be picked up 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday from Oct. 7 through Nov. 9 at the Girard Street Department garage, 943 S. State St.

The first five bags are provided at no cost, upon proof of residency with a photo ID and a utility bill. If additional bags are needed, they can be purchased at a cost of five bags for $1.

Collection of the leaf bags will be with garbage collection; the city will not pick them up.
