Handgun missing

BOARDMAN

A township man is missing his 10-mm handgun after he picked up a woman walking down Market Street about 10 p.m. Monday.

The man told police he found his car missing early Tuesday, and his gun also was taken, according to a police report.

The man believes the woman he picked up and brought back to his apartment Monday night is responsible for the thefts.

The vehicle was found by police Tuesday on Willis Avenue on Youngstown’s South Side and towed to the police department.

Drug charges

CAMPBELL

Police stopped a car at Van Buren and Courtland avenues for failing to stop at a stop sign, then arrested the driver on drug charges.

After officers initiated the traffic stop at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, they noticed what appeared to be the remains of a marijuana cigarette in the car’s ashtray. When questioned by police, however, the driver — identified as 29-year-old Jean C. Martinez of Campbell — said he didn’t have anything illegal in the car.

Martinez and his child passenger then got out of the car, and police searched it, finding a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and $1,591.

Martinez was charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, as well as endangering children, and cited for failure to stop at a stop sign. His court date is Friday in municipal court.
