Judge Lou D’Apolito on Tuesday continued for 30 days a sentencing hearing for a woman accused of stealing $100,000 from a Boardman condominium association.

Judge D’Apolito postponed the hearing for 48-year-old Elizabeth Gorski in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court so that prosecutors and her attorney can determine how much money she would have available to pay restitution.

Gorski pleaded guilty in July to a charge of grand theft, a fourth-degree felony, for taking the money between 2009 and 2012.

Gorski’s attorney, Sam Amendolara, said he does not yet know how much money Gorski will have available. He said she has yet to find out how much she will receive from her pension from being a longtime worker in the Boardman schools.

Amendolara said Gorski had applied for disability and just received it, but it is not enough to pay restitution. Anendolara said she is living with a relative whose house is being foreclosed on.

Judge D’Apolito said he wants to make sure he can get as much restitution as possible to make sure the association is whole again. He said he had no qualms about sending Gorski to prison or jail if he feels that is the proper punishment.

Gorski, who has no prior criminal record, stole money from fees paid by condominium owners for maintenance of the Sunset Knoll Condo Association.

She resigned from Boardman schools in February after 24 years as a clerk.

D’Apolito said he would not postpone her sentencing any longer. He said he wants the information, at the end of the 30 days and she will be sentenced then regardless of what is presented.
