GOLF ROUNDUP | Tuesday’s sectional tournament

East Palestine became the seventh area high school golf team to qualify for the district level by finishing third on Tuesday in the boys Division II sectional at Elms Country Club west of Massillon.

The Bulldogs shot 336, trailing Canton Central Catholic (312) and Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary (334) and finishing just two strokes ahead of fourth-place West Branch. Only the top three teams qualified to the district.

West Branch’s Ryan Adams tied with Adam Mallette of Central Catholic for medalist honors with a 75 and therefore advanced to the district as an individual. The boys Division II district will be Tuesday at Windmill Lakes in Ravena.

David Bandy led East Palestine with an 80, followed by Alec Dumbauld and Andy Ellis with 852 and Ryen Kemp with an 86.

On Monday, East Liverpool captured the Division II boys sectional title at River Greens Golf Club near West Lafayette.

The Potters, who reached the state tournament last year, were led by Isaac Davidson with a 72 and Blake Prince with a 74 as they shot 303, four strokes better than second-place John Glenn.
