Troopers seize more than $2M in cocaine, black tar heroin from commercial vehicle
PERRYSBURG — Two men from California face felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 42 pounds of cocaine and two pounds of black tar heroin, worth $2,072,000 after traffic stop in Wood County.
Troopers stopped a 2010 Freightliner tractor-trailer, with California registration, for a marked lanes violation, on Interstate 80 eastbound in Wood County at 1:21 p.m. Monday. Criminal indicators were observed and a patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the commercial vehicle. A probable-cause search revealed the contraband concealed in the truck's cab.
The driver, Bobby D. Robinson II, 24, of Carson, Calif., and passenger, Christopher Bustamante, 31, of Montebello, Calif., were taken to the Wood County Justice Center and charged with possession and trafficking in cocaine and heroin, all first-degree felonies; and possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony.
