Stolen Boardman air conditioner recovered by Youngstown police

A $500 air conditioner stolen from a vacant Boardman residence was found after Youngstown police made a traffic stop Monday.

Youngstown police were told by the occupants of the vehicle stopped that the air conditioner had come from a vacant house located at 5026 Southern Boulevard, according to a police report.

Youngstown police called to confirm with Boardman that the air conditioner was allowed to be removed, according to a police report.

The vacant house belongs to the township and no one was given permission to take the air conditioner.

An employee of The Howland Company of Youngstown told Boardman police a woman did stop at the house and ask if she could have the air conditioner.

The employee then realized that the air conditioner went missing not long after he spoke to the woman.

The air conditioner was taken into evidence and the two occupants of the vehicle received citations for receiving stolen property, but were not named by police.
