A ribbon-cutting cere- mony for the Austintown Bark Park will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Austintown Park, 6000 Kirk Road. The area is at the back of the park and to the left.

Museum day

SALEM

The Salem Historical Society Museum will participate in the Smithsonian magazine’s ninth annual “Museum Day Live!”

In honor of the event, the Salem museum will have free admission.

Smithsonian’s “Museum Day Live!” 2013 will be observed Saturday, but the Salem Historical Society Museum will participate from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The local museum will feature the newest addition to the buildings’ campus, the Dale Shaffer Research Library, with expanded industrial and transportation exhibits.

Meeting planned

Youngstown

The Brownlee Woods Neighborhood Association meets Thursday at Faith Community Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Activities begin at 6 p.m. with refreshments and social time, and the business meeting starts at 6:30.

Block Watch president Hank Zimmerman will conduct the meeting, and Councilman John R. Swierz, D-7th, will attend to review events and issues concerning the neighborhood. Meetings are open to the public.
