“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (8 p.m., ABC): The highly anticipated “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” figures to draw a sizable premiere audience — even if Thor, The Hulk and Iron Man are busy doing something else.

“The Goldbergs” (9 p.m., ABC): “Curb Your Enthusiasm” sidekick Jeff Garlin stars along with Wendi McLendon-Covey (“Bridesmaids”) in this poignant, funny and nostalgic ’80s-set send-up of “The Wonder Years.”

Ceramics museum offers two classes

EAST LIVERPOOL

Two classes are being offered at the Museum of Ceramics, corner of Fifth and Broadway streets. Reservations can be made at the museum or by calling 800-600-7180. Museum staffer Barrie Archer is the instructor. The classes are:

“Clay: Hand Building”: Will focus on the fundamentals of hand-building clay into useful objects that will be fired at Homer Laughlin Co. with Fiesta glazes. Limited to six students. Classes meet from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Friday and Oct. 18 ($50).

“Cracking the Color Code”: Students must bring their favorite medium and the substrate (e.g. paper, canvas) and tools associated with that medium, a ruler and pencils. Limited to 10 students. Classes meet from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 2, 9, 16 and 23 ($50).

Free AutumnFest at park preserve

NORTH LIMA

Beaver Township Autumn-Fest will be Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Millcreek Metroparks Preserve on state Route 165. The free event will include hayrides, a petting zoo, pony rides and various types of nature-related displays. Refreshments will be sold.

Author to conduct writing workshop

FOWLER

Local author Terry Newman will conduct a writing workshop from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Alice’s Bookshelf/Center of Balance, state Route 305.

The cost is $25, and participants should bring their own lunch. Reservations are requested but not required. Call 240-565-3436.

The workshop is designed to benefit people thinking about writing as well as those who already have started a novel or memoir. Participants will have ample opportunity to write and have their work critiqued.
