JPMorgan Chase cutting hundreds more Ohio jobs

COLUMBUS (AP) — JPMorgan Chase & Co. will cut about 440 jobs in the next three months, mostly at its central Ohio offices in the suburbs north of Columbus.

The announcement comes weeks after the bank announced 300 cuts. Like other banks, it says fewer employees are needed to handle mortgage services as that market has changed.

The Columbus Dispatch reports most of the workers affected by the latest round of cuts can apply for the company’s roughly 600 job openings in the Columbus area. The bank isn’t yet sure how many of the workers affected by last month’s cuts have new jobs with the company.

Chase is a large employer in central Ohio, where it has almost 20,000 workers. It announced last spring that it’s adding about 500 jobs in Dublin.
