YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown State University ranks among the top third of similar universities and colleges nationally in Washington Monthly’s 2013 College Guide and Rankings.

The magazine’s rankings, now in their ninth year, list schools based on the social mobility of their students, research and community service.

“Instead of lauding colleges for closing their doors to all but an elite few, we give high marks to institutions that enroll low-income students, help them graduate, and don’t charge them an arm and a leg to attend,” the magazine said in announcing the rankings.

YSU ranks 208th among 684 master’s degree-level colleges and universities included in the report. YSU is 93rd among 265 master’s-level public universities and colleges.
