Youngstown firefighter injured at South Side blaze


YOUNGSTOWN — A firefighter was injured while fighting a blaze tonight in a vacant house on Hillman Street, the Youngstown Fire Department reported.

The South Side house caught fire around 7:30 p.m. The firefighter was inside when he stepped in an uncovered air duct and injured his hip and leg, the fire department reported.

He was evaluated at St. Elizabeth Health Center, and the injuries don’t appear to be serious, the department reported.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. The house was destroyed.
