Apple Butter Stir will be feature Oct. 12

The 38th annual Apple Butter Stir is set for Oct. 12 at American Legion Grounds, 1357 state Route 14, sponsored by the Deerfield Civic Association.

It will begin with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m.

Vendors will display arts, crafts and flea market items throughout the day.

To reserve a vendor site, contact Truman McCourt at 330-714-8645.

There will be an antique-vintage car and truck show.

Volunteers will be needed to stir the vat of apple butter beginning at 9 a.m. Lunch items will be available about 11 a.m.

Apple butter will be on sale during the day and a quilt raffle will take place at 6 p.m.

Entertainment in the outdoor pavilion will include Tom Rudeboch of Leetonia as caller for the Ravenna Circulators and Tallmadge Western Whirlers as they demonstrate square dancing at noon.

Deerfield Dandies will perform at 4 p.m.

Volunteers also are invited to help peel apples at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4 and Oct. 11 for batches of apple butter that will be prepared before the event.

All activities will take place at the American Legion Grounds.
