2 suburban Toledo students charged with rape

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Two high school football players from suburban Toledo are in custody after being charged with the rape of a fellow student.

Local media outlets report the two males, ages 17 and 14, were arrested at Sylvania Southview High School on Tuesday and charged with the rape of a 15-year-old girl.

The boys were in the Lucas County Juvenile Detention Center ahead of an Oct. 1 trial date.

A police report says the female was “forced to engage in sexual activity” by the pair in the restrooms at Olander Park around 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Neither the police nor the school would comment on the incident. A schools spokeswoman said counselors were provided and classes continued as normal.

An interim director at the park said security measures have been heightened.
