Volunteers are needed for a workday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Gregg’s Garden’s showcase garden at the corner of Elm Road and Atlantic Street. Representatives of Ohio Prairie Nursery will be on hand to provide professional guidance on how to properly weed and maintain wild flower gardens. Tools and supplies will be provided. Park road closings

YOUNGSTOWN

On Sunday, Bears Den, Cross, New Cross and West drives in Mill Creek Park will be closed from about 7 a.m. until noon for the Multiple Sclerosis Walk.

Closing for run

Schenley Avenue will be closed between Kirk and DeCamp roads, and Kirk Road will be closed between Schenley Avenue and Bears Den Road to accommodate the 5K Run/Walk to Repair the Bell Tower at St. Christine Church from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Secondary roads affected will include Dogwood, Skywae, Arrowae, Gladwae, Rosewae, Coral Sea, Oran, Burma, Normandy, Hermosa, Coleman, Meredyth and Nadyne Drives, as well as Gregory Avenue. Residents will be allowed access with Youngstown Police Department assistance.

Annual Day of Remembrance

Trumbull County Parents of Murdered Children will have its annual Day of Remembrance at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Log Cabin on Courthouse Square, downtown. All families and friends of homicide victims are welcome to commemorate their loved ones by sending up balloons with messages of love. For additional information, call Miriam Fife at 330-675-2552.

Director charged

GROVE CITY, PA.

The former executive director of a western Pennsylvania Intermediate Unit has been charged with fraudulently using company credit cards for personal use. The Associated Press reports that Grove City police charged 55-year-old Cecelia H. Yauger last week. Yauger resigned in April after an administrative leave from the Grove City organization, which provides services to about 27 school districts in Mercer, Lawrence and Butler counties. In her resignation agreement, Yauger agreed to repay what the organization determines she owes.
