The Canfield 10U Little Cardinals defeated the Hickory Little Hornets 30-0 Sept. 15 at Canfield High School.

The Little Cards started the game with the ball on their 35 and drove to the Hickory 13. Logan Torok ran it in for the opening score. Hickory drove to the Card 25, but turned the ball over on downs. The Cards went right to work as Torok connected with Nick Cavoulas on a 68-yard touchdown pass. Torok ran in the 2-point conversion.

Hickory’s next possession was stopped when Nathan Fiorenza stripped the ball carrier and Conor Hritz recovered the fumble on the Canfield 43-yard line. Fiorenza then caught an 11-yard touchdown pass to close out the first half scoring with Canfield leading 22-0.

Hickory took the ball in the second half, but Luke Morell stripped the ball and Mike Crawford recovered the fumble on the Hickory 33. Cavoulas then found Gianni Gaetano on a 12-yard touchdown pass. Evan Perry added the conversion. Perry picked up a Hornet fumble on the following series, giving Canfield the ball on the Hickory 20. Canfield ran out the clock to seal their third win of the season.

The Cards are now 3-1 in the YAC and will host Struthers Sept. 22 at Canfield High School.
