Book characters came to life during the Positively Preposterous Puppet Show Aug. 16 at the Poland library.

Children of all ages were invited to see the classic tale “The Three Little Pigs” performed on the puppet stage. Also shown was “Little Blue Riding Hood,” a fractured version of “Little Red Riding Hood,” in which two characters mix up some key details of the original story.

Amanda Kollar, childrens librarian, explained why the puppet show is important.

“The puppet show allows the kids to see a story in a nontraditional way,” said Kollar. “It’s a great way for them to see stories come alive, and to get excited to read the books.”

Mariska and Analise Detrycki of Poalnd agreed on their favorite part of the puppet show.

“We liked the wolves,” they said.

The puppet show ended with the children making their very own puppet of a pig or a wolf.
