UPDATE | Pavlik will be freed from jail after posting a $2,500 bond

YOUNGSTOWN — Former boxing champion Kelly Pavlik will be released from the Mahoning County jail once he posts a $2,500 recognizance bond.

Pavlik was arrested this morning after failing to show up for arraignment in Mahoning County Area Court in Canfield on a theft charge stemming from an accusation the he refused to pay a $25 cab fare after being driven home from a South Meridan Road bar earlier this week.

He was taken to the jail but court records show that his attorney filed a motion to allow him to be released and that motion was approved. A court spokeswoman confirmed that he will be allowed to post bond.
