Youngstown man indicted for intending to distribute heroin

YOUNGSTOWN — A city man was indicted earlier this week by a federal grand jury on charges he was trying to distribute the heroin that he was caught with.

Santos Rivera, 47, was indicted after he was arrested by a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol Aug. 17 on Interstate 76 in Beaver Township after he was pulled over for a traffic violation, according to an affidavit in the case.

The heroin was found in his car by a police dog attached to the patrol, the affidavit said. The affidavit said 436 grams of heroin was found in the car.

The case has been assigned to Magistrate Judge Kenneth S. McHargh for pretrial proceedings.
