Cops make two heroin arrests Tuesday

Police arrested two people for possessing heroin in different parts of town Tuesday.

About 5 p.m., police were called to ValleyCare Northside Medical Center on Gypsy Lane to help Liberty police and hospital security who were chasing a man who dropped off someone in his truck who was passed out, reports said.

Reports said the truck driver, later identified as Kevin Wiles, 32, of Youngs-town, pulled into the emergency room entrance and ran inside to get help, but ran away when security personnel approached him.

Wiles was found in a parking lot across the street at the Jewish Community Center, 500 Gypsy Lane. When he was searched, police found five individual doses of heroin on him and $220. He was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of drugs/heroin and obstruction of official business.

About 10:15 p.m. on the South Side, police pulled over a car driven by 38-year-old Gerri Bianco of Warren at a parking lot in the 2000 block of Glenwood Avenue because the vehicle had only one headlight.

Bianco told police she did not have a driver’s license, and a records check showed she has four open suspensions on her license and a failure-to-appear warrant from Youngstown Municipal Court on a 2009 traffic charge.

Inside her purse, police found a small amount of suspected heroin, three syringes, a belt with some blood on it that officers said was used as a tourniquet and a burnt spoon.

She also was taken to the jail on charges of driving under suspension, and possession of drugs/heroin, as well as various traffic charges and her warrant.
