GIRARD

Police are investigating a beating that left a 29-year-old city man with severe injuries.

Amos J. Gramelt of Beechwood Drive is in intensive care at St. Elizabeth Health Center with a fractured skull, bleeding in his brain and facial fractures, a police report says.

His parents found him lying beaten and bloodied near his car in their driveway about 1 a.m. Tuesday, the report indicates.

They told police he had been at the Wonder Bar on West Liberty Street. After the assault, bar employees cleaned him up and put him in his car to drive home, the report says.

Their son does not remember who assaulted him or how he got home, they told police.

The report says his parents took him to ValleyCare Northside Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon. He later was transferred to St. Elizabeth’s.

Police received the complaint Wednesday morning. They asked Gramelt’s parents to find out who he was with when the assault took place.

The bar manager could not be reached to comment.
