The community is invited to attend a Family Fun Day hosted by Girl Scouts of North East Ohio from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at its Youngstown Service Center, 8580 South Ave.

The event includes free crafts and activities provided by GSNEO and local vendors and a tour of the new building. Also, attendees will be entered into a drawing for prizes, including a Girl Scout Cookie basket, a fall product basket, tickets to local attractions, and a one-year membership to Curves. There will be a rock wall and bounce house for a small fee and food vendors on site.

Also, Radio Disney is offering music, dancing and give-aways from 2 to 4 p.m.,and girls in kindergarten through third grade who join Girl Scouts on Saturday will have an opportunity to earn their first patch.

Street closing

West Federal Street will be closed between Phelps and Market Street from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday for the Third Annual Silly Science Sunday.

Body identified

A police report identifies a body found on the far East Side late Tuesday morning as Shania Criss, 21.

She was found near a home in the 100 block of Keogh Avenue by a person on a bicycle, bleeding from the nose with a purse next to her, reports said.

A news release from the Mahoning County Coroner’s office said an autopsy was done Wednesday and no evidence of lethal trauma was found. It said toxicology results are still pending.

The police report does not say where Criss is from, but a member of the detective bureau said Tuesday she is from Girard. A cellphone was found in her purse, which allowed officers to confirm her identity, the news release said.

Women jailed

BOARDMAN

Two women are in Mahoning County jail after Boardman police caught them in a prostitution investigation at the Boardman Inn on Market Street.

Shanika Simmons, 29, of Youngstown and Samantha McCourt, 19, of Canfield were arrested Tuesday night, according to a police report.

While searching one of the rooms rented by the women, police found a crack pipe. In the other room, a hypodermic needle and burnt spoons were found. Suboxone pills also were found in the room.

McCourt was charged with possession of drugs and drug-abuse instruments, in addition to prostitution charges.

Simmons was charged with promoting prostitution, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal tools.
