TODAY

Boar’s Head Ladies of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will serve a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. The meal consists of chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, bread and butter, pie and a beverage. Cost is $7. No reservations are necessary. FRIDAY

American Legion Post 737, 16465 Milton Ave., Lake Milton, will serve the following meals from 3 to 7 p.m.: all-you-can-eat fried fish with french fries or macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, rolls and beverage; chicken with fries, coleslaw, rolls and beverage; and shrimp with fries, coleslaw, rolls and beverage. Each meal is $8.50 for adults, $5 for children under 12 and free for those 3 and under. A fish sandwich with fries and coleslaw is $5.50. Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. Cost is $5 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available.

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday or 9:30 to 11 Friday at 330-746-9528 and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches will be available at 11 a.m.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato with cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday or from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Cost is $6 per dozen. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday; no containers are necessary. Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. The cost is $6 a dozen. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-in orders are welcome. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

VFW Post 9571, 11397 Ellsworth Road, Ellsworth, will have an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Also available will be four-piece chicken, chicken fingers or shrimp with french fries or macaroni and cheese. The cost is $8 for adults and $7.50 for seniors.

SATURDAY

Southington American Legion Post 751, 3145 Warren-Burton Road, will serve a Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Donations are $7.50 for adults and $4 for children under 12. The meal comprises Swiss steak in gravy, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, vegetable, beverage and dessert. Takeouts are available.

Western Reserve Masonic Lodge 507, state Route 88, West Farmington, will serve a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and $4.50 for children 5 to 12; those under 5 eat free. Carryouts will be available for $7.50. Dinners include salad, bread, pie and coffee.

SUNDAY

Our Lady of Sorrows Senior Club will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church social hall, 252 E. Wood St., Youngstown. Meals will include two meatballs, salad, bread and butter, cake and coffee or tea. Cost is $7 for adults and $4.50 for children 12 and under. Extra meatballs are 50 cents each, and pop or bottled water will be 50 cents. Takeouts are available; containers will be provided. Quarts of chicken noodle soup and barley vegetable with ham soup and homemade vanilla and anise pizzelles will be available for purchase.

Sharpsville VFW, 215 N. Walnut St., Sharpsville, Pa., will host a spaghetti dinner from 1 to 6 p.m. to benefit Kristin Toth Weinel, who was critically injured in an ATV accident July 2. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children. There also will be a basket auction and 50-50 raffle. Tickets may be purchased at the VFW hall or call 724-962-9597.

St. Joseph the Provider School will host a stuffed cabbage dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church complex, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown. The dinner includes mashed potatoes, green beans, salad and dessert for $10. For takeout orders call the school office at 330-259-0353 or purchase at the door. There will be entertainment during the dinner.

Youngstown Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Austintown, will host a pork and kraut dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The price is $8.75 for adults and $5 for children. The dinner includes dessert and coffee, tea or pop. Takeouts will be available.

TAKING ORDERS

Christ The Good Shepherd Parish at St. John the Baptist Church 159 Reed. Ave., Campbell, is taking orders for homemade haluski from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Sept. 26 at 330-726-5451 and 330-755-0036. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 27. The cost is $5 per quart.

First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Church Hill Road, is taking orders for 15-inch homemade pepperoni rolls, potato soup, chicken noodle soup and fresh baked bread until tomorrow at 330-647-7515. Pepperoni rolls are $7 each, soup is $5 per quart and $3 per pint, and bread is $1.50 per loaf. Pickup is from 3 and 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.

UPCOMING

Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman, is planning its annual International Buffet on Oct. 19. There will be two seatings, at 4 and 6 p.m. Cost will be $15 for adults and $6 for children 6 to 12; children under 6 eat free. The dinner includes food and desserts from Germany, Italy, Slovakia and Sweden. Order tickets by calling the church office at 330-758-5745 or 330-758-9309. Reservation deadline is Oct. 13. No tickets will be sold at the door, and there are no carryouts. Proceeds will be used for community outreach and the support of the church’s ministry.

St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 65 S. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage, Pa., will sponsor an Orthodox Food Festival from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 28 and noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 29. Foods featured will include Serbian lamb and gevaps, Greek gyros and stuffed grape leaves, Ukrainian pirogi and stuffed cabbage and Romanian roasted chicken and mititei. There also will be pastries for sale, music and refreshments.

St. Paul the Apostle Church Altar Guild, Route 170, New Middletown, will host an open-pit roast beef dinner with homemade desserts from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 29. Tickets cost $9 for adults and $4 for children 6 to 12; those under 5 eat for free.

Youngstown American Hungarian Club, 2219 Donald Ave., will host a chicken paprikash dinner from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 6. Dinners are $8, and baked goods will be available for purchase. For carryouts, take your own container and save $1.25. Reservations will be taken through Oct. 3 at 330-792-2620.
