The Big G sign at Arrowhead Stadium, which was destroyed Monday by vandals, will be back in time for Friday’s home game against Newton Falls, the schools superintendent says.

Pitching in to help with the replacement are AJ Construction and owner Tony Guerrieri; Girard Machine Co. and its vice president Tom Malito; and Trumbull Landscaping and Excavating, owned by Paul Morgan, said Superintendent David Cappuzzello.

Police believe it was two juveniles who were responsible for the damage, which occurred around midnight Monday.

A patrol officer spotted the two inside the stadium fence. The officer hopped the fence, but was unable to find them inside. Witnesses said they ran to a nearby apartment complex, then jumped into a car and drove off.

Police said Tuesday they have no updates on suspects.

Cappuzzello said many people took pride in the sign, which was made with donations.

“The community is very upset,” he said.

Michael Andello of East Liberty Street walks every day around the stadium track.

“I came out yesterday morning and I was shocked,” Andello said, at the sight of the sign on the ground “all crumbled up.”
