Man threatening to jump off bridge backs up traffic

GIRARD

A man threatening to jump off the Mosier Road Bridge has backed up traffic on Interstate 80 westbound and closed exit 226 for Girard.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has been negotiating with the man since shortly after noon today, said Sgt. Ronald Schneider of the OSHP, adding that they’re still attempting to get him to surrender.

“We’re trying to get a peaceful resolution to the problem,” Schneider said.

The closed exit is located just east of U.S. Route 422 and west of state Route 11.
