Two men are in the Trumbull County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond after two detectives sniffed out a burglary in progress on Garfield Drive Northeast and captured the suspects.

Detectives Wayne Mackey and John Greaver were in their unmarked police car and in plainclothes at 1:40 p.m. Friday when they noticed two men on foot, then saw them in the rear of a house in the 200 block of Garfield breaking into a house.

The suspects took off on foot, but Greaver caught up to one of them, Michael F. Saldana, 18, of Taylor Avenue, Girard, and arrested him.

Neighbors helped police locate the second man, Darrell E. Sims, 43, of Sixth Street Southwest, Warren, and he was arrested at Central Parkway and East Market Street.

Both are both charged with burglary, accused of taking a box of coins worth $1,000 and jewelry from the home, which is a few blocks west of Trumbull Country Club.

Saldana and Sims were arraigned Monday in Warren Municipal Court, where innocent pleas were entered for them.
