YSU’s Beta Gamma Sigma gets 7th designation as a Premier Chapter

Staff report

Youngstown

The Youngstown State University chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma business honorary society has been designated a Premier Chapter for the seventh year.

Premier Chapters are eligible to provide one annual $1,000 chapter scholarship to any of its BGS members. As a premier chapter, YSU’s Beta Gamma Sigma in the Williamson College of Administration will also be invited to recognize chapter advisers for outstanding service and apply for additional 2014 scholarships.

Only the top-10 percent of juniors and seniors and the top 20 percent of MBA students are invited to join Beta Gamma Sigma. The high rate at which YSU business majors accept the invitation to join Beta Gamma Sigma has earned YSU the designation as a Premier Chapter.

Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in an undergraduate or master’s program at a school accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

The Williamson College of Business Administration is one of only 5 percent of business schools around the globe that have earned AASCB accreditation. The YSU Beta Gamma Sigma chapter was installed June 11, 2000, and has inducted 560 members. Faculty members William Vendemia and Tony Kos serve as the honor society advisers.
