MAHONING COUNTY
Road work
The Ohio Department of Transportation issued these traffic advisories this week in Mahoning County:
Berlin Township: U.S. Route 224 will have various daily lane restrictions for resurfacing from Monday until further notice between the Portage County line and state Route 534. This work is the beginning of a $3 million project to resurface Route 224 and Route 534 in Mahoning, Portage and Trumbull counties. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by September 2014.
Poland/Boardman townships: A closure and restriction are in place at the Interstate 680 and U.S. Route 224 interchange, and the ramp from I-680 northbound to Route 224 is closed through mid-October. The detour is Western Reserve Road to South Avenue. Route 224 between I-680 and Tiffany Boulevard is also reduced to one lane in each direction for roadway widening and interchange modifications. Motorists should expect delays. The work is part of a $5.4 million project to widen the Route 224 bridge over I-680 and improve the I-680/Route 224 interchange. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by late October 2014.
