‘Jungle Inn’ author will speak at library

CSI Y’town will present author Allan May at the Boardman branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

May will speak about his book “Welcome to the Jungle Inn,” named for an infamous gambling den in Trumbull County in the 1940s.

May has chronicled crime for many years in the area and recently finished his second book. He was a key contributor to the Mob Museum in Las Vegas.

Writers group plans September meeting

CANFIELD

Area writers, both published and unpublished, are invited to the next meeting of Monday Night Writers, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Peaberry’s Caf , 4350 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Led by author and professional writer Nancy Christie, the two-hour sessions include a mix of writing exercises, information on the creative and business aspects of writing, and group feedback on works-in-progress.

Church will host best-selling author

Don Piper, a New York Times best-selling author, will speak at North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The community is invited, and a free-will offering will be taken.

Piper’s book, “90 Minutes in Heaven — a True Story of Death and Life,” recounts his story of life after death.
