Kyle Busch dominates to win at Chicagoland
JOLIET, Ill.
Pole-sitter Kyle Busch dominated from start to finish, leading 195 of 200 laps en route to winning the NASCAR Nationwide Series Dollar General 300 at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday.
Busch faced few serious threats, building his lead to seven-plus seconds to earn his 10th win in 20 Nationwide Series starts this season.
It was Busch’s 61st career win in 264 career Nationwide starts, and his 123rd overall win across all three of NASCAR’s top series.
Busch also won Friday’s Camping World Truck Series race and goes for a second career weekend sweep in today’s opener of the 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup championship playoffs.
2012 NASCAR champ is out; new driver’s in
This much is certain about NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup. There will be a new champion, without any deals cut.
After a week shrouded in controversy over race manipulation and questions about the sport’s integrity, NASCAR starts its playoffs today at Chicagoland Speedway.
Defending champion Brad Keselowski will not repeat. Keselowski, winless for the season, is the first defending champion to miss the Chase since Tony Stewart in 2006.
Stewart, the champion in 2011, also will not be involved.
Five-time champion Jimmie Johnson is in the field.
