Theater classes for youth

The Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theater’s fall classes for young actors will begin Sept. 21 and will run for six consecutive Saturdays through Oct. 26.

Actor-director Dylan White will be the insructor of the classes, which are:

“An Introduction to Theater” (grades 4-6; 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; $65): Designed to help the newcomer understand the process of performing on stage. The students will be introduced to the basics of auditioning, stage direction, character development and other production concepts.

“Advanced Character Study” (grades 7-12; noon to 1:30 p.m.; $65): This class will focus on determining and creating a realistic or stylistic character for the stage. Participants will learn to construct a believable character that fits into and complements the production.

To ensure a space in either class, call the Playhouse at 330-788-8739 by Sept. 19. Some late admissions will be accepted.
