A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard and Liberty:
GIRARD
Sept. 7
Harassment: An Illinois Avenue woman said a caller implied she would be harmed if she failed to contact him immediately.
Sept. 9
Menacing: A woman told officers her former boyfriend threatened to come to her Plymouth Avenue residence and harm her after she refused to bring some of his property to his home.
Damage: A vehicle in the 30 block of East Liberty Street sustained minor damage after a large truck had accidentally dislodged a phone line.
LIBERTY
Sept. 4
Arrest: Youngstown police handed 41-year-old Yolanda R. Winlock to Liberty authorities. Winlock, of Victor Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on an outstanding township warrant.
Theft: A woman noticed a $2,500 air-conditioning unit missing from her Shannon Road home.
Arrests: Mahoning County authorities turned over to Liberty police Jacarr L. Sims, 24, of Shirley Road, Youngstown, and Harold W. Charron, 39, of McCartney Road, Lowellville. Both were wanted on township warrants.
Breaking and entering: Someone in the 900 block of Colonial Drive broke into a shed and took a chain saw and a 5-gallon gas can.
Drugs: A traffic stop on Belmont Avenue resulted in charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and driving under suspension against 31-year-old Michael Shonce of Girard when, authorities said, an envelope with two syringes and a bag containing material consistent with narcotics were found.
Arrest: Sabastian Lewis of Sheridan Avenue, Youngstown, was picked up at the Mahoning County jail. The 32-year-old Lewis was wanted on a township warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a driving-under-suspension charge.
Sept. 5
Breaking and entering: Someone pried open a shed door in the 70 block of Fairway Drive and removed a $150 chain saw.
Dometic violence: Joseph D. Stewart, 38, of Euclid Boulevard, Liberty, was charged with the crime after his father alleged Stewart had forcibly pushed him against a wall during an argument.
Theft: A woman discovered her wallet missing while shopping at a Belmont Avenue grocery store.
Drugs/weapon: A traffic stop near Mansell Drive led to the arrests of 19-year-old Adam A. Perkins of Logan Arms Drive, Liberty, on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon, and 20-year-old Ronald J. Jackson Jr. of Berkley Avenue, Liberty, on charges of marijuana possession and receiving stolen property. A set of brass knuckle and a wallet with 1.4 grams of suspected marijuana were found, police said.
Harassment: A Burning Tree Lane woman said a former acquaintance showed up unexpectedly at her place of employment, then sent her a series of unwanted text messages.
Fraud: While at her Belmont Avenue bank, an elderly Youngstown woman found out someone had removed funds from her account in three installments totaling $580.
Breaking and entering: Someone in the 500 block of Colonial Drive entered an unlocked shed before stealing two each of lawn mowers, chain saws and rakes. The loss came to $1,540.
Sept. 6
Theft/drug paraphernalia: Officers on Logan Way pulled over and charged 33-year-old Leonard W. Pitts of Stonington Drive, Liberty, with theft, receiving stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension after a family member alleged Pitts had taken his 1999 GMC van without authorization. Pitts also admitted having taken the family member’s power washer, and he had a suspected crack-cocaine pipe, police said.
Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed Michael Burke of Fairmont Avenue, Youngstown, to township authorities. Burke, 37, was accused of failing to appear in court on a charge of driving under suspension.
Summons: Officers responding to a Mansell Drive home regarding an intoxicated 16-year-old girl issued a summons charging 53-year-old Eric J. Walden of Hadley Avenue, Liberty, with furnishing alcohol to an underage person.
Arrest: Dontrail R. Burkes, 23, of Benita Avenue, Youngstown, was taken into custody at the Mahoning County jail. He was charged with failure to appear in court.
Theft: While answering a theft complaint, officers charged Aaron R. Cassidy, 29, of Liberty Avenue, Hubbard, and James R. Larosa, 33, of Hadley Avenue, Liberty, with theft and receiving stolen property after a Mansell Drive man had reported his wallet missing. Larosa and Cassidy were seen on a surveillance camera using a stolen credit card at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, and they used the card to make purchases at several other stores in and near the township, a report showed.
Sept. 7
Theft: A Fremont, Ohio, man reported a global-positioning-system device, a pair of sunglasses and another item stolen from his vehicle while at a Belmont Avenue motel.
Drug paraphernalia: Authorities charged 31-year-old Rock Ogletree Jr. of Orlo Drive Southwest, Warren, with possession of drug paraphernalia after pulling him over on Belmont Avenue. Ogletree had a straw consistent with drug use that had suspected drug residue, a report said.
Arrest: Authorities at the Mahoning County jail picked up 39-year-old Edward Chacon of Burlington Street, Youngstown, on a township warrant.
Sept. 8
Possible stolen property: While speaking to a man at a Belmont Avenue gas station, an officer reported noticing an air compressor and various tools that matched the description of property stolen during recent break-ins in and near the township. The man, however, had not been charged with any crime at the time of the report.
Theft: A desk clerk with a Belmont Avenue motel told police a 32-inch flat-screen TV had been removed from a nearby room.
Sept. 9
Identity theft: A Wildfern Drive man learned that someone had opened an online checking account using his name and Social Security number without authorization.
