Contest seeks photos that depict disability

NEW CASTLE, PA.
Jameson Health System is seeking entries for “Expressions of Courage,” a black and white photo competition that depicts people — patients, caregivers and medical professionals — dealing with a chronic illness or disability.
The entries will be exhibited Oct. 8 to Jan. 3 at the hospital’s North Campus, in the upper-level exhibit hall.
Photographers of any age and skill level living within 100 miles of New Castle are eligible to apply. A one-paragraph explanation of the individual featured should accompany each entry. Photographs must be original, black and white and printed to 11-by-14 inches, and securely mounted and matted in white to 16-by-20. Frames will be provided for the exhibition but the works will be returned unframed.
There is a $10 application fee for up to two works. Cash prizes include: first place, $150; second place, $100; third place, $50; and nine honorable mentions at $25 each.
Entries must be hand- delivered to the Hoyt Center for the Arts, 124 E. Leasure Ave., between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sept. 28.
