Female students age 15 and 13 were arrested Friday at two city schools — one for possessing a stun gun, one for assaulting a student and a teacher.
Police were called to East High School, 474 Bennington Ave., at 10 a.m. They stood by as the principal pulled a 15-year-old girl into his office and asked if she had anything she shouldn’t.
The girl handed him a stun gun and was charged by Youngstown police with illegal conveyance or possession of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance on school grounds. She was taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center.
At 12:30 p.m., police were called to the Programs of Promise at Wilson School, 2725 Gibson Street, for an assault. POP is an alternative school.
A teacher reported that a 13-year-old student told the teacher she was “about to do something,” then walked up to another student and punched her several times.
The teacher intervened, and the girl punched the teacher several times also, including once on the upper lip.
The girl was arrested, charged with assault and taken to the juvenile justice center as well.
