Phantoms wins two of three;

The Youngstown Phantoms went 2-1 in last weekend’s inaugural USHL Atlantic Challenge in Hackensack, N.J.

The Phantoms defeated the Sioux City Musketeers (3-2) and Sioux Falls Stampede (3-2) but fell to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (5-3).

Zach Evancho, Kiefer Sherwood and Josh Melnick scored and Jake Moore earned the victory against the Musketeers.

Against the Stampede, Sherwood scored twice and Alfred Larsson the other while Moore made 24 stops.

Matt Miller, Maxim Letunov and Blake Christensen scored in the loss to the RoughRiders.

This weekend, the Phantoms will hit the road again when they take on the defending Clark Cup champion Dubuque Fighting Saints tonight and the U.S. National Team Development Program on Saturday at the USHL Fall Classic East in Indianapolis.

Dubuque represented the United States at this summer’s Junior Club World Cup in Omsk, Russia. The Saints, under first-year head coach Matt Shaw, went 3-2-0 in Russia and captured the bronze medal.
