“Specter of Treason — The Oswald Story,” by J.E. Ballantyne Jr., Victorian Players and J&B Production Arts Services, Victorian Players Theater, 702 Mahoning Ave., auditions 7 p.m. Sunday. The play deals with the fictitious trial of Lee Harvey Oswald, John F. Kennedy’s accused assassin. Many of the larger roles have been cast; actors for smaller roles that will not require much rehearsal time are still needed. A company meeting will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 22, and full rehearsals will begin shortly thereafter. The show will open Nov. 22, 50 years to the day after the assassination of JFK, and will run three weekends through Dec. 8; there is a possibility of extra Sunday matinee performances. “Thespis and the Three Golden Feathers,SDRq written and directed by James Canacci, Youngstown Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane, auditions 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 19 and 20. The play has parts for more than 20 actors. The director is looking for children age 8 to 18 and adults (male and female) interested in performing or working backstage during the play. Auditionees will be asked to read from the script and should bring a current photograph. “Thespis” is the story of the orphaned boy Eutychus and his adventures through ancient Greece. Thespis, the legendary actor and playwright, tells of Eutychus’s tumultuous relationship with King Midas, and how he must survive his challenges, not with weapons or magic, but with his wits and the help of his new family and friends. While telling this exciting tale, Thespis also introduces the audience to some of the more important aspects of ancient Greek Theater. Performances will be Nov. 1-3, with some school performances the week of Oct. 28. For information, call 330-788-8739.
