Warner brothers filmmaker to visit for presentations

WARREN

Cass Warner, granddaughter of the founder of the Warner Bros. movie studio, will visit the area later this month for appearances in Warren and Youngstown.

The first appearance will at the Trumbull Town Hall lecture series Sept. 25 at Packard Music Hall.

Warner, with Stephen Bogart, son of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, will present a multimedia program that will include home movies featuring Bogart, Bacall and many other stars of the day.

It will provide an insider look at a glamorous period of Hollywood history.

Warner also will show excerpts from her award-winning 2008 documentary “The Brothers Warner.”

Except for the documentary footage, none of the material has ever been seen before by the public.

The presentation will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the door. Call 330-373-1900 for information.

The Warner brothers started their movie empire in Youngstown and New Castle, Pa., in the early 20th century. After opening theaters in both cities, they went to California and founded their studio.

Cass Warner also will speak at the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., Youngstown, at 7 p.m. Sept. 26. After a brief talk, Warner will screen her film. A question and answer session will follow. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or in advance at the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave., Youngstown; or by calling 330-743-2589.

Warner will also be the guest at a reception at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Tyler Center. Tickets are $40 for the event, which will include hors d’oeuvres. Contact the MVHS for reservations.
