SMOKETOWN, Pa. (AP) — Officials say one man was injured when his small plane crashed and caught fire at a central Pennsylvania airport.

Authorities said the two-seater airplane hit a hangar at Smoketown Airport in Lancaster County when it went down shortly after taking off at about 9:30 a.m. today.

East Lampeter Township police said 74-year-old Joseph Bender of Gordonville was flown to Crozer-Chester Medical Center with burns and a possible head injury. He was reported to be in critical condition.

The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes.

The airport is about six miles east of Lancaster.
