Parking-deck gate
Parking-deck gate
Youngstown
Mahoning County commissioners Tuesday approved spending $3,750 for a new electric parking-deck gate and $4,435 for removal and replacement of a buckling and cracking sidewalk and curb at Oakhill Renaissance Place.
The gate will be provided by Youngstown Fence Inc., and the concrete work in the Head Start playground area will be preformed by CML Concrete Construction of Youngstown. Both companies provided the lowest of three quotes for the jobs.
Head Start is a tenant at Oakhill, the former Forum Health Southside Medical Center at 345 Oak Hill Ave.
“These are safety issues that we have to continue to fix because, if you have somebody fall on that sidewalk, then, of course, there’s a tentative issue that we can be sued,” said Carol Rimedio-Righetti, chairwoman of the commissioners.

Counterfeit money
AUSTINTOWN
Township police are investigating two incidents in which counterfeit money was used to purchase products and to almost purchase a money order.
The first incident occurred at the GetGo service station on Mahoning Avenue where the store manager discovered a counterfeit $20 bill in the drawer Monday, according to police.
On the same day, another incident occurred at the Pilot service station on Canfield-Niles Road, where a man attempted to buy a money order with four $100 bills. The associate told the man there was a fee for the money order, and the bills appeared to be fake.
The man left the store, but there is surveillance video of him.
