Woman pinned, run over by truck

A woman who was working at Wolford’s Refuse was pinned between a roll-off and her truck, then run over by the truck, McDonald police report.

The accident happened at 2:25 p.m. Monday at Ohio Avenue and McKinley Boulevard.

The 40-year-old Steubenville woman was seriously injured.

Police would not release her name pending notification of relatives.

The woman, who drove for Inland Trucking Co., was either picking up or dropping off the roll-off, said Police Chief Lou Ronghi.

When she was released from being pinned, the truck ran her over and went down an embankment.

Crash sends three people to hospital

A two-car crash sent three people to the hospital, the Trumbull County 911 dispatch center reported.

The accident happened at 8:50 p.m. Monday at Liberty and Main streets.

Kent Kelley, Eagle Joint Fire District assistant chief, said a man in one car complained of general pain and two women had chest and neck injuries.

Kelley said he did not know the names and ages of the victims or where they are from. He said police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Men report robbery

YOUNGSTOWN

Two men were robbed in the backyard of a North Side home in the 200 block of Alameda Avenue just after 1 a.m. Monday.

The men told police they walked out the back door and found two men in the backyard dressed in black clothing, with their faces covered and pointing guns at them. The pair took a wallet and an iPod from the residents, reports said.

The two men then ran toward Fifth Avenue, reports said.

The area had seen similar robberies in late August but police had made no arrests in those cases.

Because the two victims were students at Youngstown State University, students were alerted via text message that a robbery had taken place.

Pleads not guilty

AUSTINTOWN

A 31-year-old man pleaded not guilty in Austintown court Monday to charges of fleeing and eluding and reckless operation of a vehicle.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Jerry Burton of Youngstown was driving 110 mph Wednesday on Interstate 680 in Austintown.

While attempting to stop him, Burton fled, taking the Meridian Road exit, turning left onto Mahoning Avenue and then he fled from the car onto Schenley Avenue. Troopers caught Burton on foot.

Baby probably died from natural causes

WARREN

The Trumbull County coroner says the death of 4-month-old Carter Clark at a residence on Adelaide Avenue Southeast Thursday was probably natural causes.

Carter Clark, who was found not breathing at 3:57 p.m., had been sick two days before his death, said Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk, Trumbull County coroner.

An official ruling on the cause and manner of death is pending the results of toxicology results likely to be available in eight to 10 weeks.

Gallery dedication at Arms Family Museum

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will dedicate a gallery in honor of Jeanne D. Tyler in the Arms Family Museum at 5:30 p.m. today as part of the Society’s Founders’ Day Dinner.

The ribbon-cutting will include Tyler, society president Dr. William J. Cleary and Bill Lawson, society executive director. The gallery will be dedicated as a costume gallery and will be used to display the society’s collection of historic clothing and textiles.

The dinner is in celebration of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s 138th anniversary.

The Friday tribute to community activists Atty. William Ron Miller and his wife, Lynnette Miller, has been moved from the Buckeye Elks Youth Center on North Avenue to the McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road.

The event, sponsored by the Youngstown-Warren Black Caucus, was moved because Mrs. Miller recently broke her ankle, and her doctor does not want her climbing any stairs. Drugs in underwear

YOUNGSTOWN

Police say a man booked into the Mahoning County jail on three failure-to-appear warrants about 2:10 p.m. Sunday had six rocks of suspected crack cocaine in his underwear.

Jason Harmon, 23, was arrested at Plazaview Court and McGuffey Road on the city’s East Side after an officer spotted him.

When he was booked into the jail, he tensed up as corrections officers went to check his underwear, reports said.

Harmon was arraigned Monday in Youngstown Municipal Court on a felony possession of drugs charge as well as illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility. A judge set his bond at $20,000.

KSU at Trumbull enrollment at 3,093

Kent State University at Trumbull’s that enrollment for fall 2013 stands at 3,093 students, a decrease of 14 students from fall 2012, according to the 15-day count. The fall 2012 enrollment was 3,107.

“We are very pleased that our enrollment at the campus remains strong,” said Daniel Palmer, assistant dean for Kent State at Trumbull. “Kent State Trumbull has worked diligently to deliver academic programming that is best suited to the needs of area students. Man offers girl ride

WARREN

A Monroe Street Northeast woman reported Friday that her 14-year-old daughter had been approached by an unknown male in a black Mustang on Thursday on her way home from school and asked “to get into the vehicle and if she wanted a ride.”

It was the same afternoon a 12-year-old girl reported that a man in a pickup truck tried to entice her and her 5-year-old brother to get into his vehicle at Ohio Avenue and Ward Street Northwest.

The 14-year-old’s mother said she didn’t call police the day it happened because she was upset and had put her daughter in her car and drove around looking for the man.

The Monroe Street incident occurred at 2 p.m., and the Ohio/Ward incident occurred at 6:40 p.m.

Fines on lost card

A 49-year-old Woodbine Avenue SE woman reported that she now has a bill of $410 at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library for materials checked out on her library card, which she lost at the library, along with her car keys, in late June.

All of the items were checked out from the juvenile section, she said.

Assault charge

WARREN

Brian Zupp, 43, of Hollywood Street NE, posted $5,000 bond and was released from the Trumbull County jail Monday on a felonious-assault charge resulting from an incident in the 1500 block of Edgewood Street NE.

An innocent plea was entered for him in Warren Municipal Court.

A 32-year-old woman said Zupp came to her home at 5:34 p.m. Friday, threw items through a window at her, then tried to hit her with his vehicle.

The woman had an apparent minor injury but didn’t require medical attention.
