Warner brothers filmmaker to visit for presentations

Cass Warner, granddaughter of the founder of the Warner Bros. movie studio, will visit the area later this month for appearances in Warren and Youngstown.

The first appearance will at the Trumbull Town Hall lecture series Sept. 25 at Packard Music Hall.

Warner, with Stephan Bogart, son of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, will present a multimedia program that will include home movies featuring Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall and many other stars of the day.

It will provide an insider look at a glamorous period of Hollywood history.

Warner will also show excerpts from her award-winning 2008 documentary “The Brothers Warner.”

Except for the documentary footage, none of the material has ever been seen before by the public.

The presentation will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the door. Call 330-373-1900 for information.

The Warner brothers started their movie empire in the Youngstown and New Castle, Pa., areas in the early 20th century. After opening silent movie theaters in both cities, they went to California and founded their studio.

Cass Warner will also speak at the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., in downtown Youngstown at 7 p.m. Sept. 26. After a brief talk, Warner will screen her film and then follow it up with a question and answer session.
