Counterfeit money found in Austintown
AUSTINTOWN — Township police are investigating two incidents where counterfeit money was used to purchase products and to almost purchase a money order.
The first incident occurred at Get-Go service station on Mahoning Avenue, where the store manager discovered a counterfeit $20 bill in the drawer Monday, according to police.
On the same day, another incident occurred at the Pilot service station on Canfield-Niles Road, where a man attempted to purchase a money order with four $100 bills. The associate told the man there was a fee for the money order and the bills appeared to be fake.
The man left the store, but there is some surveillance video of him.
