Youngstown native is celebrity host at Sept. 22 event

The second-annual Torch Run to benefit Church Street Ministries, a nonprofit organization assisting Cuyahoga County families in crisis situations, will be Sept. 22 at Berea’s Wallace Lake in the Cleveland Metroparks.

Youngstown native Lydia Esparra, Emmy-winning WOIO Channel 19 Action News anchor and internationally acclaimed author, will return as celebrity host. She will sign copies of her inspirational book, “Heaven is All Around You,” before the event.

Event coordinator is the Rev. Gary Halstead, pastor of First Church of Berea.

All event proceeds benefit the outreach programs and services of Church Street Ministries.

CSM was founded in 1986 by the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Berea. The agency has helped provide for thousands of families in need of food, clothing, furniture and financial assistance.

Registration for the event begins at 1:30 p.m. with the run to begin at 2:30 p.m. The affair will conclude with a closing celebration featuring a barbecue and awards ceremony at 5:30 p.m. All participants will receive a T-shirt at the finale.
