Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, open exercise at 8 a.m., monthly membership meeting at 9:30, bingo at 10, painting class at 10:15, and OSHIP social worker and tour at Park Vista at 11:30; Tuesday, open exercise at 8 a.m., Vets Helping Vets and bingo at 10, bridge club at 10:30, Drums Alive at 11, AARP Notables at 1 p.m., car show at 6 and 20/9 radio club meeting at 7; Wednesday, open exercise at 8 a.m., bingo at 10, tai chi and pizza party ($3) at noon and movie matinee, “The Quiet Man,” at 12:30 p.m.; Thursday, open exercise at 8 a.m., wood carvers and trip to Akron Zoo at 9, yoga at 9:15, SOS at 9:30, beginner crochet at 11 and dinner and grocery bingo at 5 p.m.; and Friday, open exercise at 8 a.m., comparative religion at 9, and bingo and discussion group at 10. The Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer program of the Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers. Volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home or a visit at home. They also plan special events for seniors such as health fairs and Make a Difference day projects. Senior Independence Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following: Monday, needlecraft at 10 a.m., bridge and Zumba at 1 p.m. and nutrition class at 2; Tuesday, arts and crafts at 10 a.m. and beginner and intermediate bridge at noon; Wednesday, watercolors at 10 a.m., tap class at noon, 500 card club at 1 p.m. and line dancing at 1:30; Thursday, Watch Our Weight and woodcarvers at 9 a.m., diabetic support group at 10, computer classes at 10 and noon, exercise at noon and advanced computer at 2 p.m.; and Friday, Wii bowling at 10 a.m., potluck senior lunch bunch (take a covered dish) at 11:30, band at noon, card and board games at 1 p.m. and cornhole at 2. A trip to The Meadows Casino will leave from the senior center at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 24 and return at 6 p.m. Cost is $35 for members. Call to register by Saturday. Trumbull County Probate Court and Senior Court AARP Driver’s Safety Program will provide a certified instructor to review driving skills, techniques and strategies to help seniors adjust to physical changes that may affect their driving abilities. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 18 at Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive. The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers. Refreshments and lunch will be served.
