Peace vigil Monday against Syria attack

Local peace activists plan a peace vigil at 7 p.m. Monday near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Central Square downtown against any United States military attack on Syria.

According to organizers, the vigil is one of many taking place across the nation on the same day at the same time.

Labyrinth workshop Tuesday in Howland

A Moment for Me Yoga and Wellness Center offers a workshop on Learning the Labyrinth with Kathleen Wentz from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at 8309 High St.

The labyrinth is usually a group of circle patterns placed on the ground, though there are also other locations where it is placed. When people walk the path, they achieve a meditative state while traveling through the twists and turns. It also has been seen as a symbolic form of pilgrimage.

Those attending the class will learn background information about the pathways, experience different forms and materials of a labyrinth, discover an easy pattern, construct a floor labyrinth and more.

Vapor in tank causes explosion at Sheetz

A vapor build-up in a gasoline storage tank at the Sheetz station, 221 Salt Springs Road in Weathersfield Township just off Interstate 80, caused the tank’s metal cover to pop off Friday afternoon. The station closed for about an hour to ensure there was no danger of more explosions, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

A Sheetz official referred questions about the incident to its headquarters in Altoona, Pa.
